Xade Character Design

Here's one of the villains of the Steel Paraverse, the voodoo queen known as Xade. Thanks to once more for helping to actualize her design.


During her lifetime, Elsbeth Beaudin was rumored to be a priestess of Vodun, capable of crafting potions, influencing the spirits of the land and calling forth the dead from their graves. Little did the people of her town realize the truth of these rumors when, upon the brutal death of her brother, Jean-Louis, she was able to restore him to “life” by infusing him the dark energies the linger in the shadows beyond mortal perceptions. The price for her engaging in the most ancient and unspeakable of evils, though, was the claiming of her own life. Elsbeth, though, had long prepared for the eventuality of her own demise and upon the first full moon following her death, she emerged from the dark embrace of her tomb and, casting aside her mortal identity, took the name Xade.

Xade is more formidable now in unlife than she ever was while she lived. She is perpetually shrouded in a cloud of dark miasma that drains the warmth from any living thing it touches and is able to act as a prehensile extension of her will, acting as both shield and weapon. Those drawn into the web of dark mists are often subjected to their most primal fantasies or their darkest fears even as their vital essence is drained from them.
